Fine craft artists will be center stage demonstrating various traditional crafts on Saturday, Nov. 7 from 3-5 p.m, in the Commons Building on Main Street Margaretville as part of the multi-arts "Art in Common" fall events collaboration. Lynn Thomas will demonstrate the craft of gourd art as she cuts and designs this common work of nature into an uncommon work of art. Liza Belle Burke will show us her leathersmything skills, creating custom sandals and wearable art. Tara Hu will demonstrate the ancient art of Chinese calligraphy. At the same time, in the Longyear Gallery, fine artist Nat Thomas will give a lecture and slide show on “How to Look at Modern Art”. Events are free of charge and refreshments will be available.
